Concussion Management: Return to Play vs. Return to Learn will be led by Adriana Pena, DAT, ATC who received her Bachelor of Science in Sport and Fitness in 2016 and her Master of Science in Athletic Training from Florida International University in 2019. After graduating, she decided to pursue her Doctorate in Athletic Training from A.T. Still University, which she earned in June of 2022.

Adriana worked in the High School setting for two years. She currently works at Florida International University in the Athletic Training Services Clinic, where she provides services for the general student population as well as coverage for intramurals and club sports. She also serves as the lab instructor in the Master of Science in Athletic Training Program.

Adriana’s passion for concussions led her to conduct further research on return to learn post-concussion. Her goal is to provide the best patient care across the board while assisting patients who have suffered a concussion and are struggling in the academic aspect.

In addition, Adriana serves as the EPC South Florida Representative, is a member of Minority Women in Sports Medicine, and serves as the Secretary for the FIU AT Alumni Network.
